Post-Auction Guide

The auction is over, now what?

AUCTIONS END AT MONDAY, APRIL 20TH, AT NOON EST!

THANK YOU! From all us, from the bottom of our hearts, individually and collectively: THANK YOU for being a part of #Creators4Comics. Over 600 auctions. Thank you.

what to do now If you hosted an auction

(If you are a bidder see below)

1. Find your highest bid!
Check your Twitter thread and make sure you have seen all replies with bids visible to you (we do not expect you to unblock anyone for this auction).

2. Contact the winning bidder!
No later than 24 hours after the auction ends, tell the highest bidder you will send them a direct message* with more details or provide them with your email address so they can email you. Do not ask them to post their email address publicly.

3. Tell the winning bidder to donate to BINC!
Winners should donate the winning amount to BINC.
IMPORTANT: Please ask them to use this link to make their donation.
https://secure.donationpay.org/bincfoundation/covid.php?source=creators4comics

Ask them to send you proof of their donation -- an email receipt from BINC or a screenshot of the receipt. (Save it somewhere -- just in case.) Arrange delivery of the winning item (to take place when Shelter In Place and social distancing guidelines in your area allow) or determine the date and time of the online/virtual event.

4. Let us know how you did!
Please fill out the form at this link as soon as you get proof of donation. https://tinyurl.com/Creators4ComicsBids

It takes less than a minute, and will help us calculate the incredible impact we’ve had together. If you have any questions on the form, please reach out to constance@conventionsquirrel.com

5. Celebrate!
You and your winner just had a huge impact on comic stores and indie bookstores! Post a tweet to congratulate them! Thank your other bidders and encourage them to donate to BINC anyway!

Please contact us at creators4comics@gmail.com with any questions. And, again, thanks from the whole team,
Kami Garcia, Sam Humphries, Gwenda Bond, Brian Michael Bendis, and Phil Jimenez (plus rock star volunteers Marieke Nijkamp, Constance Eza, Lorissa Shepstone and April Roberts)

* In order for the person to receive a direct message from you on Twitter, they have to be following you or they must have their settings set to accept direct messages from anyone. You might receive notifications for DMs that don't appear in your regular DM feed. Check “Message Requests” to find out if people you don't follow are trying to DM you proof of donation--the easiest thing is to temporary follow the highest bidder.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING AN AUCTION!

If you are the highest bidder in an auction

(If you hosted an auction see above)

Step 1: Wait for the person running the auction to confirm you are the highest bidder before you make any donations. You should receive confirmation within 24 hours of the auction ending.

Step 2: After you have been confirmed as the winner, make contact with the person running the auction (via direct message on Twitter or email) and confirm the item you won and the amount you will be donating to BINC.

Step 3: Make your donation directly to BINC. You will need a credit card to make your donation

Step 4: Email or direct message the person running the auction with proof of your donation in the form of an email receipt from BINC (or a screenshot of the receipt). Do not post this information publicly.

Step 5: Confirm how the person running the auction will notify you when they are shipping your item (after Shelter In Place and social distancing guidelines in their area allow) or the date and time your online/virtual event will take place.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR A DONATION!

problems?

Something went wrong and I need help.

I was the highest bidder, but the prize was awarded to someone else.

Let the person running the auction know as soon as possible, and hopefully it can be fixed. Mistakes happen, unfortunately, especially on Twitter threads with lots of replies.

I don't know how to take a screenshot of my donation.

On your iPhone: Hold down the power button and home button at the same time

On an Android: Press the power button and volume down key at the same time.

On a Mac computer: Press Shift-Command-4

On a PC: Press Alt + PrtScn or use your snip tool

I was the highest bidder, but I can no longer make the donation.

Let the person running the auction know ASAP (don't wait for them to contact you), so they can contact the next highest bidder.

I was the highest bidder, but I haven't heard from the person running the auction.

Wait 24 hours from the end of the auction, then reach out to the person running the auction. If you don’t get a response after several attempts AND a week has passed, let us know and we will try to help. Do not email us until a week has passed with no response from the person who hosted the auction.

I contacted the highest bidder, but they have not responded to me.

Wait 24 hours before contacting the next highest bidder. Let the original highest bidder know that you have moved on to the next highest bidder.

DISCLAIMER: Each individual, organization, and commercial entity are offering goods and services in return for donations to BINC as part of the #Creators4Comics auction. Every good faith effort will be made to honor the correct highest bidder in each individual auction.

Auctioneers retain the right to determine the winning bid they can see on each item offered within reasonable limits, and no further correspondence will be entered into.  Auctioneers retain the right to reject bids from any participant at any time for any reason.

#Creators4Comics is a harassment-free zone -- there is an expectation of safe conduct on auction threads, public posts, private correspondence, phone calls, video calls, in person, or any communication whatsoever. Thank you for participating and we urge everyone to make a donation to BINC even if you did not win an auction!
